Legal Murder

Legal Murder
Nawaz Ali, 10th Dec 2006

About Me
-------------------

This is Nawaz Ali, Who? well you don't know me because I am no one special, I am quite an average person, I have never done anything big in my life and probably will never do, BUT I was special to someone, I was the Best Son in someone's eyes I was a pure Hero of his, But those eyes have been closed now forever, He was my father.

The Story
------------------------

One month ago my father was sick, Doctors said his Kidneys are not working very well and he should consider a Dialysis, My father was a 55 years old diabetic patient, he went to the famous Kidney transplant hospital in Rawalpindi, there he consulted the Doctor, That Dr asked my father to have some tests and then he declared that my father should have a Kidney Transplant, The famous hospital provided the "DONOR", Then they operated my father on 4th Oct 2006, My father died on 9th Nov 2006, He lived about one month after the operation, During his stay in the hospital for that month we as attendants have seen many things which I would like to share.

Fraud
------------------------------------

Its not like that we were aware about the facts and the risks involve in my father's operation. When I asked the doctor about the risks, He replied "Don't you drive cars? Its also risky should you stop driving?", and I had no answer at that time, I didn't knew that its NOT that same.

Views about the Hospital
------------------------------------

1- Staff was Unqualified and Unprofessional (Trust me I know what I am saying)

2- Even in ICU the Duty Doctors were never there, you need to search them and then take them to your patient to show if there is anything wrong with the pulse rate or BP on the monitor.

3- The nurses in ICU were absolutely untrained and non professional, sometimes you need to tell them that the drip is over so please change it and twice the time I told them that the Oxygen bottle is empty so if they can fill it up again.

4- There is no Permanent faculty Medical Specialist there, only some visiting faculty doctors come for some time and the total time a single ICU patient gets is around 1 minute of them.

I know that sometimes when someone close to you died in a hospital you can be unfair to them
and don't realize how sincere the staff was to your patient and you just ignore all the great efforts they made for your patient to survive.

I am not against anyone, but I feel that I need to know the answers to the following questions.

Condition of my father before Kidney Transplant
---------------------------------------------------------------

1- One month ago he had a Paralysis attack on his right side, he couldn't move his right hand and right leg, but then he recovered from that and start walking slowly and started moving his hand as well.

2- He was a Diabetic patient

3- He had the High Blood Pressure problem as well

4- He was 55 years old

Doctor. at The Kidney Transplant Center knew all these things, and they decided to operate my father.

The point?
------------------------

My point is that I feel my father was a victim of someone's greed, because they think my father can afford the expenses so they operated him to make money, ignoring his conditions whether he can survive it or not,

Plus I would like to say that my father was an innocent man who has been cheated, he was supposed to be protected by the Government from this life threatened fraud with him, Why the governments in Pakistan don't take responsibility and protect people going into such Hospitals where the staff and equipment is not up to the standards, and why such hospitals even be allowed to operate in Pakistan?

My Misery
-------------

As patients we trust doctors and hospitals we believe on each and every word they say, religiously, and what some of them do to us just because of money? I can not say that my father was murdered, because we do not have a proof that my father was operated in that hospital, as we do not have any documents which shows the fact.

Shouldn't there by any agency or government department which ensures that the standards are being maintained in the hospitals operating in this country, I think this is amazing that we have Agencies and departments which have been made to check the credibility of Hotels and restaurants but No one is having a check on hospitals here.

I personally believe that my father was Legally Murdered, and we can't do a thing about it as hospitals here, have the license to do so.

Transplant Bill?
---------------------

There is An Organ Transplant Bill that has been lying with the Senate since 1992, I hope that someone in the decision makers would get some time to think about it and safe our fathers and sons being Murdered "Legally".

Nawaz, Who just couldn't do anything, Sorry dad..... (I think you were right, I AM USELESS)
